A Unique Building Model

Habitat for Humanity is known throughout the world for its unique "partnership housing" model that founder Millard Fuller envisioned - where volunteers work alongside the families who will own the completed homes to make a lasting change in their communities.

Old Colony Habitat for Humanity acquires land and/or buildings from local communities, banks, and from generous individual donors. Professional architects and engineers then design our buildings, not only conforming to the local building code, but, as necessary, in line with the historic preservation guidelines. Once this is complete, our volunteers and partner families begin work on all aspects of construction.

Habitat's volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization. By using volunteer labor and many donated materials, Habitat is able to do what no other government or corporate entity can do; Habitat is able to facilitate change using the community and volunteers to leverage and multiply every dollar raised and ounce of energy spent. By working together, volunteers, corporations, congregations, individual supporters and homeowner families, the cycle of poverty can be broken, neighborhoods rebuilt, and community revitalized.
